Privacy policy

Last updated: September 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Igitok ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website and mobile applications (the "Service"), available at https://igitok.com. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect the information you provide, such as your username, display name, email address or phone number, password, date of birth, and gender. If you sign up using Google or Apple sign-in, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email address) from that provider. Some of this information — such as your username, display name, and profile photo — is shown publicly on your profile by design.

Content you create

We collect and store the videos, photos, comments, messages, and other content you post, upload, or send through the Service, along with metadata associated with that content (such as when it was created and any location or device information attached to it).

Verification information

If you verify your account using a phone number, we send a one-time passcode via SMS and record that your phone number has been verified. We do not publicly display your phone number.

Purchases

If you purchase Credits or virtual items, our payment processors (such as Stripe or Paystack) collect your payment card or payment account details directly. We receive confirmation of the transaction and limited billing information (such as the amount charged and a transaction identifier) — we do not receive or store your full card number.

Device and usage information

We automatically collect information about how you access and use the Service, including your IP address, browser or device type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. We also collect device identifiers and push-notification tokens so that we can deliver notifications to your device.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Service, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; see Section 6 below for more detail. We never store your password in a cookie.

Information from others

Other users may provide information about you when they interact with your content (for example, comments, reports, or messages) or when they upload content that includes you.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including your profile, feed, messaging, and notifications;
  • Process purchases of Credits and virtual items and maintain accurate records of your transactions;
  • Verify your identity and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse;
  • Personalize your experience, including the content and recommendations we show you;
  • Send you service-related communications, including transactional emails/SMS (such as OTP codes and password resets) and, where you have not opted out, product updates;
  • Moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service, including through automated detection of content that may violate our policies (for example, adult or violent imagery);
  • Analyze usage trends to improve the performance, security, and features of the Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as follows:

  • Publicly, as part of the Service: your profile information and any content you choose to post publicly is visible to other users and, depending on your privacy settings, to the public.
  • With service providers: we share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Stripe, Paystack), cloud storage and content delivery, push notifications, SMS/OTP delivery, and automated content-moderation or analytics providers. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of Igitok, our users, or the public, or investigate potential violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
  • With your consent: we may share information for any other purpose with your consent.

4. Push Notifications & SMS

With your permission, we send push notifications to your device to alert you of activity such as new followers, likes, comments, and messages. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or in-app notification preferences. If you verify your account by phone, we may send you SMS messages for one-time passcodes and important account or security notices; standard messaging rates from your carrier may apply.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or prevent fraud.

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us recognize your browser, keep you signed in, and understand how the Service is used, so that we can improve it. We may also use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to help us understand aggregate usage trends.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. For example, in Google Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data. Note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access and update: you can review and update most of your account information at any time from within the app.
  • Deletion: you can delete your account at any time, which will remove your public profile and content in accordance with Section 5 above. You may also request deletion of your data by contacting us at the email below.
  • Marketing communications: you can opt out of non-essential marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in the message or through your in-app notification settings. We may still send you essential service and security communications.
  • Data portability and objection: depending on your location, you may have the right to request a copy of your data or to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at the email below, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit via HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in a country other than the one in which you live, including countries where our servers, service providers, or cloud storage providers are located. Where required by applicable law, we take steps to ensure that such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
